First Fridays with Muevelo

Muevelo means “Move it!” in Spanish, which is exactly what happens on the dance floor when this talented band takes the stage. What started as a one-off tribute to Celia Cruz instantly took hold and Muevelo! now reigns as one of New Orleans’ favorite Latin dance bands. Lead singer Margie Perez and Grammy-winning saxophonist Brent Rose lead their band and audience on a tropical tour of Cuba and beyond, and are popular festival favorites. Listen for Rose’s impeccable, rhythm-driven sax solos on crowd pleasers like “Quimbara.”
